The CEU was titled “Through the Camera’s Lens: A “Multi-Media” Exploration of the Needs of America’s Aging Population and Their Caregivers”. Greg and Hilary Eldridge and Cheryl McEntee presented the CEU to about 40 attendees. Hilary and Greg are the owners of Home Helpers of Alpharetta and Cheryl McEntee is their RN supervisor.
The CEU examined how the continued increase in the aging population makes meeting the needs of the elderly and their caregivers an increasingly complex issue. Often times this process starts with effective hospital discharge planning. Using a “multi-media” approach (through video clips, poems, stories and cartoons) we examined the who’s, what’s and why’s of caregiving. We got some perspectives from family members who are caregivers – as well as professional caregivers and looked at what helps to make a “good” caregiver match. We also looked at the effects of caregiving and the growing aging population on the individual, family and economy.
