[Jonathan] It's National Assisted Living Week, and to celebrate this week, we reached out to local experts to answer some frequently asked questions about assisted living. In this episode of "Home Helpers' Water Cooler Chat," I had the opportunity to chat with Sammy Jo Munding, the community relations specialist with Discovery Village of Sarasota Bay. Are you ready to learn more about assisted living? Let's go.

Thank you so much, Sammy Jo, for joining us today for today's edition of "Home Helpers' Water Cooler Chat." How are you doing today?

[Sammy Jo] I'm great, thank you. It's an honor to be here.

[Jonathan] Glad to have you here. So the question I have for you today is, you know, when we talk about assisted living and people out looking for communities for themselves or for family members, we oftentimes hear this term, level of care. So what exactly does level of care mean?

[Sammy Jo] So Jonathan, level of care is our way of customizing the care our residents receive based on the support they need to maintain or improve their quality of life. Level of care also allows our residents the ability to age in place here in their own home. It also gives our staff the ability to appropriately staff based on the ratio to ensure that our residents receive a five-star care.

[Jonathan] Very good, very good. So thank you so much for that information. Sammy Jo, can you tell me a little bit more about Discovery Village of Sarasota Bay where you are?

[Sammy Jo] Yes, sir. So here at Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay, we have assisted living, our Memory Care, which we are very fond of, our SHINE program, and we also have our active, independent living. We are a resort-style senior living where our residents are able to transition regardless of where they are in their journey.

[Jonathan] Very good, very good. And so if our viewers want to contact you, Sammy Jo, how do they do that?

[Sammy Jo] Well, they are welcome to either, one, log on to our website at discoveryseniorliving.com or my direct line is 620-205-8941, and my direct email is smunding@discoveryvillages.com.

[Jonathan] All right, so thank you so much, Sammy Jo, for joining us today. You provided some great information that's going to help our viewers, you know, in their search for assisted living when it comes to that time. To all of our viewers that are watching, I want to thank you for watching this edition of "Home Helpers' Water Cooler Chat," and until next time, we'll see you soon. Take care.
