Register to become an HCA (Home Care Aide) in California – Cost $35
Home Helpers of Central Valley will reimburse you after you have completed 150 hours of client visits. We need the original receipt.
When you are done registering, you will get an HCA #. This is the beginning of your journey. Your status will say PENDING. Take a picture of this screen with your phone. You will want to keep this number handy. Once you have passed the background check via LiveScan (see below) and the system connects the two, your status will change to REGISTERED.
Get your official background check via Live Scan (fingerprints). Fill out this form and take it to a Live Scan fingerprinting service. These are the locations where you can complete this transaction. There is Rolling fee cost and a cost for the background check itself. Each location charges a different cost for “rolling your fingers”. Some locations take only cash, while others take credit and debit cards. The least expensive location is the Modesto Police Department, but it is cash only and only by appointment. – Cost $42-78
Get a TB (tuberculosis) test showing you are “negative” or do not have TB – email a copy – Cost $26 Oakdale Community Health Clinic or sometimes it is free with your medical insurance.
To get your results from the test, you have to go back 3-4 days to get the results (they look at your skin).
