My name is Debbie Humphrey, and I am passionate about helping people…especially seniors!
My career began in banking, and I assumed that I would retire from the profession when the time came. However, in the banking business, I was frequently approached by seniors who needed help balancing their checkbooks, assistance with sorting their mail or just wanted someone to talk to.
The more I aided these seniors, the more I realized they each had real needs to be met, and they could truly benefit from specific resources to help make their lives easier.
I love seniors because they have lived during extraordinary times that people my age or younger have not experienced. They didn’t have the technology we have today, but they survived! They didn’t have the big box grocery, department, or home improvement stores we regularly frequent nowadays. They often visited general stores, family-owned grocery stores or five-and-dimes for essentials they needed for their families and households.
The stories seniors tell about these experiences are fascinating, and they offer unique perspectives we may tend to lose sight of in the midst of all the daily noise.
The more my heart communicated with my head, the more it became clear that I needed to leave the banking industry to find the right resources in my quest to help seniors. That’s when I discovered Home Helpers®.
