  • Community Recreation Centers: Membership to the City’s rec centers is free to residents 50 and over with the purchase of a $1 leisure card. It provides access to the Gillie and Martin Janis Senior Centers as well as several multi-generational centers.
  • Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens: Franklin Park offers a variety of programs, including a weekly Farmer’s Market, craft classes and guided tours. Seniors also receive a discount on admission to the botanical garden.
  • Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks: Columbus’ area Metro Parks are also home to a variety of senior-friendly activities.
  • Columbus Zoo and Aquarium: Columbus’ world-renowned zoo and aquarium is a senior-friendly destination offering reduced admission to adults over 60 with a valid driver’s license or picture ID.
  • Columbus Historical Society: The Historical Society offers free talks and events throughout the year, as well as tours around Downtown Columbus. There are even virtual tours and resources you can explore without leaving your house!
  • Columbus Metropolitan Library: The library offers a variety of programs, classes and events to keep seniors engaged with their community—from author visits, book discussions and virtual trivia nights to genealogy research and courses on technology.
  • Columbus Walk with a Doc: Walk with a Doc is an hour-long walking program in which a healthcare professional shares information about a specific health topic, and then the rest of the hour is spent enjoying a walk and good conversation.

  • Franklin County Office on Aging: The Office on Aging provides access to programs and services for older adults and their families so they can preserve their independence. Call the main office at 614.525.5230.
  • Franklin County Senior Options: Franklin County Senior Options (FCSO) helps Franklin County seniors aged 60 and older maintain their independence. It also supports family caretakers. Call 614.525.6200 to speak with a caring professional trained to help solve senior problems.
  • Veteran Resources: The City of Columbus offers a list of local veteran services and agency contacts.
