2017 Caregiver of the Quarter - First Quarter

Caregiver of the Quarter Maria

Maria has a unique perspective on her job as a caregiver. As she cares for her clients each day, she does so with the knowledge that her own mother also is in someone’s care.

Maria trusts her mother’s caregiver. And she works every day to bring that same peace of mind to her clients and their families. She is so very reliable, kind and hard-working.

Maria also works well with her co-worker, with whom she shares duties as a live-in caregiver.

Maria has been with her current live-in client for much of the time she has spent at Home Helpers. She stays with her client four days and nights each week, caring for her every need.

It’s something Maria has done before, for her own father. After working as a caregiver in the United States for several years, she spent a few years caring for her aging parents before returning in 2014.

Caring for aging adults requires empathy and lots of patience, Maria said. She said she has plenty of both, but that doesn’t mean her job isn’t tough.

Clients can be difficult and demanding. But when she can make her client smile, Maria considers the day a success.

“When I see my client smile, I’m happy, too.”

Sometimes, that smile comes as the result of one of Maria’s home-cooked meals.

“All Polish women cook,” Maria said. And she is no exception.

Maria is the kind of caregiver that Home Helpers strives to put in every client’s home.

Home Helpers of Hinsdale is very proud to have Maria working with our clients.
