2017 Caregiver of the Quarter - Fourth Quarter

It’s been 25 years since Aurelija discovered her love of caring for others.

“I didn’t know any English then,” said Aurelija, who had just moved to the United States from Lithuania and was in need of work. She soon found much more than a job. In caregiving, she found her passion.

“It is a blessing,” said Aurelija, Home Helpers of Hinsdale’s Caregiver of the Quarter.

Aurelija joined Home Helpers four years ago after working for several other companies. She said she has found her home with Home Helpers.

“I’m so happy I found them,” she said. “The company cares about their caregivers. It’s the best place.”

Aurelija said she not only loves her employer, she truly cares about her clients.

“I learn so much from them,” she said.

Care Manager Michelle Pantoja, CNA, CDP said Aurelija is always reliable and treats her clients like her own family.

“I’m so glad to help them and to make them happy,” Aurelia said. “I try hard to understand their needs and to help them enjoy the things they enjoy.”

“I don’t think I’m very special,” she said. “I need them as much as they need me. It’s a good feeling to have someone depend on me.”

In caregiving, Aurelija has found work that she is passionate about, but she has never given up her love of music and of singing. She sings in her church choir and in a Lithuanian opera in Lemont.

“I think it’s important to stay active,” said Aurelija, who encourages her clients to do the same.
