Home Helpers, Connecting with our Partners in Care

Sept. 12, 2022. Maggie Dominici, Regional Manager for Home Helpers of the Lehigh Valley, and Nurse Care Manager Melony Horn, set their table for a luncheon with their referral partners and colleagues in the industry. Great brainstorming about serving the care needs of the region occurred today!

Maggie’s presentation on June 21, 2022, on Healthy Living for your brain and body, was televised to all apartments at Luther Crest. Two Hundred plus participants, in person and in apartments watched the event.

On May 10th, 2022, Maggie Dominici, Home Helpers’ Regional Manager for the Leigh Valley, presented an education program entitled “10 Warning Signs” to the Northampton Co. Area Agency on Aging for Citizens Advisory Council members.

Kellie A. Butsack, Associate Director Programs, Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, had some enthusiastic comments to report.

After the program, two attendees approached Maggie to express interest in having Association programs presented for a local senior’s group they are involved with. A third attendee asked Maggie how to become a volunteer educator with the Association. I will be following up with that person all this week! This is how we expand our reach to more people in our communities who are impacted by Alzheimer's and dementia.

THANK YOU, Maggie, for representing the Association and moving our mission needle forward! 💜

Thank you all, for all you do every day... have a great week!

Last week, during a dreary, rainy day in the Lehigh Valley, our on-call caregivers, Lisa and Laura, went out and about to spread some early Easter cheer to clients and caregivers.

The baskets are filled with treats and sweets (and, of course, some healthy options) for everyone. Home Helpers’ clients always look forward to these visits and the joy that they bring. We are so thankful for this opportunity to delight our clients, and also acknowledge the caregivers who make remarkable service happen every day.

Home Helpers’ Caregiver raises money for Kiev

Jessica Snyder is a caregiver who works in Home Helpers’ Lehigh Valley office in Bethlehem. Jessica has a servant’s heart, and we are so proud to have her on our team! The bears that she is holding are hand-crocheted in the blue and yellow colors of the Ukrainian flag, and available to order at the Black Forest Deli for $25. Jessica is making and donating the bears, and monies raised from their sale are going directly to families in Kiev.

Everyone in the Lehigh Valley is familiar with Black Forest Deli at 7th and Union in Bethlehem. The restaurant, owned by a mother/daughter team who emigrated from Kiev 20 years ago, draws a faithful crowd for its homemade Ukrainian specialties. Daughter, Vica Shparber, graduated from Seton Hall University with a BS in International Relations and Diplomacy. She worked for the UN and Lucent Technologies, but left to pursue her love of food and hospitality, and open Black Forest Deli.

This is not just your regular deli, says Vica, we call this place “Cheers.” Most likely when you are here, you will know someone that walks into the door. With appearances on TV, written articles in newspapers, magazines as well as being rated a top food place on YELP, don’t miss this local gem.
