Caregivers Make a Difference with Alzheimer’s Walk

In-home caregivers and their families share many experiences, but for each, the journey is unique. Among those who care for older loved ones, there is perhaps no more emotionally challenging experience than caring for someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease.

That’s one of the reasons the mission of the Alzheimer’s Foundation, and its many similar and allied local and regional organizations, is so important to us at Home Helpers. With them, we’re working not only to find a cure but to support the individuals and families who live with this terrible disease.

Since the late 80s, communities across the country have hosted Alzheimer’s walks. The Alzheimer’s Foundation Walk to End Alzheimer’s has grown to more than 600 events nationwide raising tens of millions of dollars.

What we find inspiring about this effort is that money raised is put to work for the present and the future. Participants and their donors are supporting families living with the disease and caring for those who suffer from it. At the same time, grants make possible the important research that we all know someday will lead to a cure.

This is a tremendous cause and one that brings together the entire community to celebrate, remember and improve the lives of our neighbors.

We hope you’ll join Home Helpers in finding a walk near you, putting together a team, or sponsoring one or more participants.

You’ll likely make new friends, and we’re sure you’ll have fun along the way.

Thanks,

Debbie Morris
