Inspired by His Own Experience, Chris Graham Opens Home Helpers Business in Austin
Austin, TX – When Chris Graham’s mother took a turn for the worst in 2016, he found himself 23 hours away trying to hire someone he felt he could trust to provide her with in-home care. That experience is what inspired him to pursue opening his own in-home care company. Now Graham is pleased to announce the launch of that new business, Home Helpers of West Austin.
Home Helpers is the nation’s leading franchise specializing in comprehensive home care for seniors, new mothers and individuals needing recuperative and continuing assistance. Home Helpers of West Austin also offers Direct Link, its proprietary line of 24/7 medical alert systems, including a fall sensor with GPS locator and an automated medication dispenser. Home Helpers of Austin serves the Greater Austin Area.
“When my mom – who lived in Washington, DC – was sick, I was thrust into making a decision about home care for her very quickly. I knew there was a real chance I could lose her and I needed a company that listened to me, cared about the needs of my family and could build a plan that fit what we were looking for. Before that experience, I had honestly never even thought about home care. But now that I’ve been through it – and had a great experience – I can empathize with what people are facing and help them through it in a compassionate, effective way,” Graham said.
Graham is originally from DC and he moved to Atlanta when he was 18 to attend college. He lived there for 27 years, including the 12 years he was the principal IT Consultant at C. Edmund Graham Enterprises. In that role, he worked alongside clients in the automotive, retail, telecommunications, banking, finance and medical industries.
“That was a wonderful experience because it taught me the importance of understanding and listening to my clients, offering services and delivering world-class solutions and service,” Graham said. “In 2013, I started with General Motors as a Senior Manager and, in 2016, I relocated to Austin. I started looking into franchise opportunities because I was ready to do something that touched people’s lives in a different, fulfilling way.”
Home Helpers of Austin offers free in-home consultations and works with each client to create a flexible, affordable care plan based on a person’s individual needs. Services offered include personal care such as grooming, bathing, ambulation, medication management and care management as well as respite care, meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, companionship and transportation. With Home Helpers, each individual client receives services tailored to meet their specific needs by caregivers who become an extension of their family. Home Helpers’ full-range of home care services empower clients to live healthier and more rewarding lives in the privacy, safety and comfort of their own homes.
“I knew I wanted to open a franchise, but I wanted a business with a human touch. I want to make a real difference for people at a challenging time in their lives,” Graham said. “I want people to know that, when you hire Home Helpers, you’re hiring someone to come take care of your loved one the same way you’d want to be treated. We are respectful, kind, caring and professional people and we want to fill in so you can enjoy the time you have with your loved ones and get the respite you need.”
