September is Healthy AGING Month

September's observance is designed to focus on the positive aspects of growing older. Here are five ideas to take stock of where you are and where you want to be:

Do Not Act Your Age! What has been your best year so far? Take that year and be it! If that makes you feel better about who you are then do it! My best year was 2005 when I moved to beautiful Denver and bought my first ski pass!

Get Rid of Negative People in your Life! Distance yourself from people who only complain or talk about the Zombie Apocalypse. Yikes!

Stand Up Straight! You will look and feel better if you do this one, trust me! When you look at yourself in the mirror, is your stomach sucked in and is your chin up? Practice this until it becomes natural.

Start walking! Not only does this get you outside, but it also gives you the chance to meet your neighbors and find out what kind of things they are up to! If you have a dog, you will be amazed at what a conversation starter he is. I have a cute little Maltipoo and you would not believe all the friends we have made in my neighborhood!

Volunteer at a local school! This way you can stay up on local trends. I need to do this, for I still don't understand the point of twitter or what a hashtag is??
