Specialists Discuss Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Care in Western Massachusetts

Alzheimer’s Care in Agawam and Wilbraham

If you are caring for someone with Alzheimer’s Disease or Dementia, you shouldn’t miss this. The Alzheimer’s Association, The Atrium at Cardinal Drive in Agawam and the Orchard Valley at Wilbraham are promoting a great speaker series about Dementia and Alzheimer’s, every other Thursday, starting on March 8.

The program which will interest family caregivers who are experiencing the difficulties of dealing with a loved one diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease or another type of dementia, as well as health care practitioners who work in Elderly Care.

Home Care in Agawam

The first topic to be presented will be “Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body” on March 8, at 4 pm, at the Atrium in Agawam. The program will cover lifestyle choices that impact the aging process. Relevant information and research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity, and social engagement will be presented. The presenters will also demonstrate hands-on tools to develop a plan for healthy aging.

Alzheimer’s Care in Wilbraham

On March 22nd, also on 4 pm, the event will be hosted at the Orchard Valley at Wilbraham, to discuss legal and financial aspects of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Presenters will emphasize the importance of early legal and financial action needed when a loved one is diagnosed. They will also list which measures you should consider and how to put an effective plan in place. 

Senior Care in Agawam

The series continues, two weeks later, with a discussion involving the difficulties related to having “Dementia Conversations,” at the Atrium. The presenters will bring tips about how to have productive and successful conversations with your loved one, family and others about some of the most challenging topics when caring for someone with memory challenges. The “Dementia Conversation panel will take place at The Atrium at Cardinal Drive, on April 5th, at 4 pm.

Home Care in Wilbraham

To conclude the useful and practical speaker series, on April 26th, at 4 pm, the Alzheimer’s Association speakers will talk about “Safety and Memory Challenges,“ as dementia-related changes impact how to think about safety. This program, at Orchard Valley at  Wilbraham, will bring strategies to encourage a safe environment and lifestyle for those affected with memory challenges.
