What is quality of life and how to improve it?

Quality of life is not a new concept. For decades countries have been measuring the quality of life indicators of their citizens and comparing them with each other. That measurement considers how long people live, how healthy they are and their access to basic services and care.

More recently, a lot of research started to be developed to try to measure the health aspects of quality of life and to improve quality of life ratings. That helps physicians and health providers to make decisions to reduce the costs of care with better results. Ultimately, the result is that people live longer and better.

No matter how you look at it, the field of quality of life is leading a revolution in health care for different generations of Americans. People are constantly looking for ways to live a healthier, less stressful life, no matter how young or old they are.

That’s why the North Central Chamber of Commerce (Enfield, Suffield, East Windsor, and Somers) decided to organize the largest event and exhibit focused on Quality of Life in our region ever, on Thursday, October 25th, at the Asnuntuck Community College, in Enfield, from 3 pm to 7 pm.

Forty exhibitors will be presenting their products and services to the North Central Connecticut public, in the various disciplines of quality of life, while experts will be conducting presentations on its different aspects, from healthier nutrition, for younger Americans to living longer in your own home, for baby boomers.

There will be providers of products and services related to sports clubs, outdoor activities, yoga, meditation, healthy diets, allergy management, estate planning, in-home care, home improvements for seniors, smart homes and others. The public will be able to get acquainted with new technologies and talk to specialists about their own situation and which are the solutions available.

Older Health Care and Exercise

Informative sessions on home care, nutrition, health, and fitness

Sessions will discuss massage therapy or yoga for long-term preservation; how the opioid crisis is affecting the way physicians are providing prescriptions (and alternatives to using them); nutrition, longevity, and independence; protecting oneself in the ever-evolving world of identity theft: estate planning for retirement; and even better eats for trick or treat on the Halloween evening.

Attendance is free and the Chamber will be collecting non-perishable food donations, for the Enfield Food Shelf and Food Pantry. All attendees will have a chance to win 40in Vizio TV, and there will also be a teacup raffle.

Since the early stages in its planning process, the expo has received enormous attention and interest from our community and the Chamber is already considering turning it into an annual event, with additional space.
