Recognizing the Need

By Frank Esterle

Recognizing the Need Usually, recognizing the need for in-home assistance isn’t precipitated by a specific event. It happens gradually. And it can be a hard thing to admit to talk to an elderly loved on about. But needing help is not the same thing as giving up your independence. Nobody likes to ask for help and it’s even harder for someone who has spent a lifetime taking care others. You’re not alone. We’ve been there before, and we’ll be there with you. Because we’re in this together.

Mom says she’s doing fine... but it seems like she’s falling behind on some of her day-to-day things.

It’s never easy when the ones who cared for us, who taught us to be strong and independent, suddenly need our support. But recognizing the need for help around the house is often the most important step in helping an aging parent or other loved one hold on to their independence for as long as possible. We understand that nobody wants to be dependent on others: that’s why we design in-home care plans that consider the needs of the entire family.

You are not alone. We’ve been there with our own family members and we understand the conflicting emotions and the family dynamics of helping people age gracefully in their own homes. A free in-home evaluation might help clarify what help actually is needed. You may even be surprised to find that your loved one needs less help than you imagine. We’ve been there before, and we’ll be there with you. Because we’re in this together. Learn more about recognizing the need at www.homehelpershomecare.com/lehighvalley, or call us at (610) 838-7494
