Elderly Care in Milwaukee

What Should Be In A Care Plan For The Elderly?

It's important to identify the needs of your loved one to ensure they are receiving the right care plan. .Here are a few things we recommend taking note of ahead of time:

  • Medical Needs - Many elderly patients face multiple medical conditions. This can make their needs unique since each medical condition requires special care. It's important to have a list of medications, how they should be administered, and how often your relative will need to visit the doctor or hospital for regular tests or procedures.

  • Specific Nutritional & Physical Needs - If you're loved one has special dietary restrictions or physical care requirements, we want to know so we can make sure they receive proper care. Physical needs can look like washroom assistance, bathing assistance, grooming assistance, cooking, cleaning, and overall mobility assistance.

  • Emotional & Psychological Support - If your loved one is experiencing a memory decline or an emotional condition, identifying what enhances their comfortability is a helpful first step. This can include things like a specific routine, visiting a favorite park, or curating a playlist with familiar music.

  • Quality of Life & Relationships - Growing older and losing autonomy makes our loved ones feel vulnerable. It's important to identify areas of life that can provide a source of enrichment. Is your loved one still capable of attending any kind of group class activity? Would they enjoy spending time at the library? Do they enjoy things like bingo or cards? Maybe just a gentle walk in the neighborhood.

Taking the time to decide what the best kind of care looks like for your loved one will ensure you're choosing the best plan for them. Having expectations in mind will allow us to create a plan that works for both you and your loved one!
