Nikia Gist, Care Coordinator Specialist

Nikia Gist is a Care Coordinator Specialist at Home Helpers whose primary responsibilities include handling and overseeing inquiries for services, consultations, and quality assurance visits.

Nikia brings over a decade of invaluable experience to her role as a Care Coordinator Specialist at Home Helpers Home Care of Bradenton. With six years of that time dedicated to healthcare supply chain management and a profound 15+ year personal journey in caregiving, Nikia embodies a compassionate and true professional in the field.

Nikia's dedication to caregiving began as a personal caretaker for her son after he experienced a life-altering stroke in 2000. After years of providing total care for her son, he eventually passed away in July 2020. This experience, coupled with caring for her mother who battles vascular dementia, ignited her passion for helping others navigate through the complexities of healthcare. Nikia also spent approximately 15 years as a private caregiver for an elderly couple, assisting with challenging conditions over that time such as Parkinson’s disease and loss of vision. Through these experiences, Nikia not only honed her caregiving skills but also became intimately familiar with the challenges families face in finding quality assistance for their loved ones.

Nikia's impact extends beyond professional roles. Her genuine dedication to aiding others is evident in her founding a grassroots non-profit organization in St. Louis, MO. For a decade, with her non-profit she led initiatives supporting the homeless and families in need, leaving a lasting mark on her community.

Outside of her professional life, Nikia loves spending time with her family. Both her mother and daughter currently live with her. She also has a son who lives in St. Louis, MO. Nikia finds comfort in traveling, listening to music, and reading, and is a self-proclaimed "foodie." She finds peace and inspiration near large bodies of water.

Nikia’s guiding philosophy is rooted in Romans 8:28 and underscores her approach to life and work: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
