Home Helpers® Embraces Opportunities to Assist Those with Disabilities

Have you ever found yourself in an elevator with someone with a disability or intellectual difference? Did you avoid eye contact or worse, stare at the person because there was something about them that made you uncomfortable?

Unfortunately, when I was a very young girl, I remember being that person. I was not sure what to make of people with physical or intellectual differences or how I should feel about them. I struggled with the awkwardness of encounters with those with disabilities, and yet I felt true empathy for their struggles.

As a mature adult and owner of Home Helpers Wheaton & Naperville, I have long come to terms with the uncomfortable feelings I had as a young girl, and I have mastered how to positively interact with individuals who are physically and mentally challenged, as have the caregivers I employ. We choose to embrace people’s differences and strive to make their lives easier in a variety of ways.

That’s how we roll at Home Helpers®. We are Making Life Easier for those with disabilities in a variety of ways every single day!

People with developmental and intellectual differences typically have unique needs that require specialized care services we provide. Whether you or a loved one needs assistance with activities of daily living, expressing emotions, communicating with others, or interacting in our community, my team of caregivers and I are here to deliver the care and support that is needed.
