Ruth Betts, Registered Nurse

Ruth Betts

Ruth Betts is a Registered Nurse at Home Helpers, providing oversight of client care. With a healthcare background that spans over 50 years, Ruth brings an extraordinary depth of experience and compassion to her role here at Home Helpers.

Since 1970, Ruth has held a diverse array of positions in healthcare, including medical surgical nurse, psychiatric nurse, home health team leader, home health manager, director of assisted living, wound care nurse, skilled nursing facility liaison, case manager, and private caregiver.

Ruth's inspiration to work in the healthcare field stems from a lifelong calling rooted in her heart since she was a young girl. She is proud to have touched countless lives throughout her career and believes that it is both her compassion and empathy that have allowed her to excel in each role she undertakes. She has an exceptional ability to connect with patients’ families by being a good listener and problem-solver, always willing to lend an understanding and ear without judgment.

Many of her most memorable moments in her career include offering support to families of patients facing end-of-life situations. Her reassuring presence during such delicate times has provided comfort and solace to those she serves.

Originally from Wayne, Michigan (just outside of Detroit), Ruth has made the Bradenton-Sarasota area her home since 1970. Her family holds a special place in her heart; she was joyfully married to her beloved husband for 54 years, until his passing in 2014. Their enduring love story began when they met while he was serving in the Navy. Ruth is a proud mother of three and a grandmother of 14, one of whom chose to follow in her footsteps as a nurse.

Outside of work, Ruth's interests and passions reflect a vibrant and social spirit. She finds joy in traveling (both domestically and internationally), reading, and spending time at the beach. She also cherishes the time she spends with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Ruth also actively contributes to her community, assisting in the organizing of a monthly bunco game for local healthcare professionals.

At the core of Ruth's identity is her strong Christian faith, which guides her in every endeavor. Her personal philosophy is captured by the phrase, "You can let your smile change people but don't let people change your smile." Her approach to life and work centers around maintaining a positive outlook while influencing those around her with genuine warmth and a welcoming smile.
