Most people have an emotional attachment to certain foods. Chicken and rice casserole might remind us of Sunday afternoons at Grandma’s house. A cold evening might leave us longing for a hot bowl of chili like Mom used to make.
Did you know that enjoying these favorite dishes is as easy as making a call to Home Helpers? Home-delivered meals are one of the many ways Home Helpers makes life easier for seniors and their families.
Kate's Comfort Food
Several years ago, Home Helpers of Hinsdale teamed up with Casey’s Market and master of the kitchen Kate Jones to create Kate’s Comfort Food - a menu full of foods that seniors enjoy. These home-delivered meals are made in the Casey’s kitchen, without artificial ingredients that you’ll find in the grocery store freezer.
“This is comfort food that people know and love,” said Kate.
For many seniors, cooking and meal planning is a chore. Rather than bother with shopping and food preparation, some too often turn to easy fixes like popcorn, cereal or frozen dinners, which are typically full of fat and way too much sodium. Even worse, some won’t eat much at all.
Kate’s menu is full of things that people want to eat – hot soups, hearty casseroles and satisfying favorites like pot roast and beef stew. There are even choices to satisfy that sweet tooth, like escalloped apples (a Kate’s favorite) and sweet potatoes topped with homemade praline.
With Thanksgiving fast approaching, Kate’s roasted turkey, served with homemade stuffing and vegetables, is a seasonal favorite.
A Menu Full of Favorites
Seniors are sure to find their favorite dishes among the dozens of meals, soups, sides and desserts available on the Kate's menu of home-delivered meals. Most dishes contain a main course, vegetable and side dish, all at an average cost of $8 per meal.
Individually packaged meals are frozen for quick and easy preparation in the oven or microwave. Kate’s customers can stock up, knowing a fresh, hot meal is always just a few minutes away.
Delivered To Your Door
Kate's meals are delivered every Tuesday and Friday by a trusted member of the Home Helpers staff. We will even pack the meals in your freezer. To place an order, just take a look at the menu and call Home Helpers at (630) 323-7231 to place an order. Your first delivery is always free. After that, each delivery is $5, regardless of how many meals you order.
Kate’s meals are tasty, satisfying meals. But just like mom used to make, these meals aren’t intended for those with dietary restrictions
“They are dishes that you ate while you were raising your family. It’s what your wife cooked,” Kate said. “It’s as nutritious for the soul as it is for the body.”
